Adding Expenses and Building Your Pricing Foundation

Before quoting jobs, set up the cost side of your business so your pricing reflects real operating conditions. This turns Junk-Desk into a true pricing system instead of just a basic calculator.

Types of Expenses to Add

Common expenses that affect your job pricing include:

  • Disposal or dump fees
  • Fuel costs
  • Labor rates by difficulty tier
  • Equipment costs
  • General monthly overhead
  • Specialty item surcharges
  • Vehicle insurance and maintenance

Step-by-Step

1

Go to Settings and click on the "Costs" or "Pricing" tabs.

2

Enter your target profit per yard and minimum job charge.

3

Set your default tax rate and fuel price.

4

Add monthly hard costs — cell phone, vehicle payments, insurance, etc.

5

Set up labor rates for each difficulty tier (curbside, standard, heavy carry, etc.).

6

Save all changes and revisit them as your costs change over time.

💡

Accurate expenses help protect profit margins and make quotes more reliable. Review these numbers monthly — fuel prices and dump fees change often.

How Expenses Flow Into Quotes

Once your expenses are saved in Settings, the Quote Calculator uses them as default inputs. This means every new quote starts with your real cost structure already built in — you just add job-specific details on top.

Expense Receipts

The Receipts tab in Settings lets you log individual expense receipts as they occur. This builds a running record of actual spending and helps verify that your pricing stays accurate over time.
